Welcome to the Jane Austen Society of North America-Greater Indianapolis Region! Our region was formed in 2006 as the JASNA-Indiana Region after several years of Indiana members going to meetings in Chicago, Dayton or Louisville. With the addition of a second region in Indiana, we became the Greater Indianapolis Region. Currently we have over 70 members in our region and we continue to grow as we share our love of all things Austen throughout the Indianapolis area.
We welcome anyone interested in Jane Austen and the Regency Period. Our meetings are informal, sometimes discussing one of Austen’s novels or related Regency literature, or sometimes mounting a special event such as a trip to a local museum or historic site, theatre, tea room or winery, and always an annual December tea to toast Jane Austen on her birthday. Please take a moment to look at the past newsletters to see what we have done and how you can join the fun!
Anyone who is a member of JASNA may attend any regional meeting; the only stipulation is that members who attend regional meetings then become members of the international organization JASNA. Our region does not charge additional dues to belong to JASNA-GIR. The benefits of membership are many, especially receiving the wonderful publication, Persuasions as well as JASNA News which is published three times a year. For more information on membership in JASNA, go to www.jasna.org.
